Just how good are you?
Description
These are U.S. Chess Rated tournaments sponsored and run by the Prescott Chess Club. In order to enter and compete in one of these tournaments, you will need a current U. S. Chess membership. Results of each tournament are reported to the USCF and player ratings updated accordingly!
Format
The Prescott Chess Club runs two types of tournaments, alternating every month:
- USCF Quad Tournament – players are grouped into sections of four based on their USCF ratings. After all players register, they are sorted from highest to lowest rating, and the top four are placed in one “quad,” the next four in another, and so on. Each quad plays a round-robin format, meaning every player in the group plays against the other three players in their section, resulting in three games per player. Time controls are G/60, d0. There are normally cash prizes to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in each quad.
- USCF Blitz Tournament – a speed chess event, with a G/5; d0 time control. It run as a double round robin, where each player plays two games against every other player – one game as white and one game as black. Prizes are awarded based on the number of entrants.
